  • Personalidad y Características Físicas: What do you and your friends look like? Let's describe ourselves and our friend's personality!
  • La escuela: What classes do you take at Laurel? What time do you go to each class? Who are your teachers and what do you do in class? 
  • La Comida: What do you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner? What time do you eat? Practice ordering at a restaurant. Compare foods we eat to those in Latin America, Puerto Rico and Spain
  • La salúd: What are healthy food choices? What do you do to keep active and stay healthy? Compare our daily activities to those in Latin America, Puerto Rico and Spain
  • La cultura: Learn about cultural products, practices and perspectives in Latin America, Puerto Rico and Spain

Self-Assessment Checklist
Current research suggests that students move forward at a faster pace when they take greater control over their own learning. 
One of the biggest indicators of success is If students can clearly answer the following three questions about their learning:
  • Where am I going in my learning?
  • Where am I now?
  • How will I get there?  ​
The ability to answer these questions requires educators to make learning more visible. The only way students can answer the question “Where am I going?” is if his/her teacher makes learning intentions and success criteria explicit. The only way students can answer the question, “Where am I now?” is if educators provide meaningful feedback.

​Students need to know how to think about their learning, how to talk about their learning, and how to move their learning forward.

Expected ZOOM behaviors in Spanish class

Show Respect:
  • Be on time
  • Be nice: Use "por favor" and "gracias" in every occasion
  • Build each other up, don't tear each other down in Spanish class:
    • What does this look like?
      • Praise each other! Say "muy bien" or "excelente", give a high five! 
      • Never laugh at a student when he/she is trying their best to communicate in Spanish
  • Bullying will not be tolerated
Use Preparation:
  • Wear your invisible "Spanish Speaking and Thinking Cap" on your head
  • Put eyes on the speaker at all times
  • Be your BEST SELF! 
Participate:
  • Act, Sing, Dance, Write, Play, Read, Be Dramatic - while staying on task in Spanish
